Five teens charged in wild scene at Bayonne fast-food restaurant

Five Bayonne teens were charged Tuesday in a chaotic incident at a fast-food restaurant after one of them threatened to kill an employee there, authorities said.

Bayonne police responded to the McDonald’s at 25th and Broadway on the report of a 15-year-old boy threatening a female worker, Capt. Eric Amato said. As officers detained the boy, a 16-year-old girl obstructed the investigation and approximately 20 others surrounded the officers and began shouting obscenities at them, Amato said.

When multiple backup units arrived to assist the officers trying to disperse the large group, another 15-year-old boy pushed a police officer and was taken into custody, Amato said.

While the officer was securing the boy, the 16-year-old girl and another boy, 16, attempted to intervene and were also placed into custody, Amato said. Another 16-year-old boy was also taken into custody when refused to leave after being ordered to do so multiple times.

Th 15-year-old boy accused of making the initial threat to the employee was taken into custody at his home Wednesday, Amato said. He was charged with making terroristic threats.

The 15-year-old boy accused of pushing the officer was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, failure to disperse and obstructing a governmental function.

Two of the 16-year-olds were charged with failure to disperse and obstruction, while the other 16-year-old was charged with failure to disperse, Amato said.
