(Getty Images) (NEXSTAR) — Just as our doctors have repeatedly asked us to do, Instacart went ahead and figured out what we’ve all been eating over the past year. Instacart, an online ordering and delivery platform for groceries, has delved into its data to determine the most common supermarket purchases throughout the U.S., both on national and local levels. In a general sense, the findings indicate a shift away from pandemic-era purchases (hand sanitizers, sanitizing wipes, yeast for baking, etc.) and toward more items that suggest a return to

    It’s no secret that fast food chains are primarily focused on serving meat-based products. But a new report from World Animal Protection, released just in time for World Vegan Day, shows just how far behind most of these restaurants are when it comes to offering any plant-based items. The new report also shows a general lack in sustainability efforts from many fast food companies. Fortunately, at least a handful of restaurants are making strides in offering more delicious, plant-based menu items beyond undressed salads.     Global Food Security: Improved Monitoring Framework Needed to Assess and Report on Feed the Future’s Performance

    What GAO Found Feed the Future (FTF), a U.S. government–wide global food security initiative coordinated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), collects data to monitor how FTF projects promote agriculture, resilience, and nutrition (see photos). However, USAID and its FTF partner agencies are limited in their ability to use performance data to assess the initiative’s progress because they have not set FTF-wide performance goals and few FTF indicators fully meet two key attributes of successful performance indicators.     Fast-food wages climbed 10% in latest quarter, the largest jump in years, report says

Now it’s showing up in the data. Wages for hourly limited-service restaurant workers climbed 10% in the second quarter compared with a year ago, according to a new report from industry tracker Black Box Intelligence and Snagajob. It’s the largest quarterly jump in years. For comparison, hourly limited-service employees saw their wages rise just 4.1% in the first quarter compared with a year prior.
