World’s most expensive sandwich costs Rs 17,500: Here’s why

George Bernard Shaw rightly said, “There is no sincerer love than love for food.” In India, we love to devote our love for food on special occasions and festivals but the Americans are way ahead of us, as they have even named several days based on their favourite dishes.

What makes it so popular is the fact that the process of making these sandwich is super easy and can be prepared in just a few minutes. Also, sandwiches are one of the cheapest foods that one can enjoy anytime during the day.

However, one of the popular restaurants in New York ‘Serendipity 3’ relaunched their ‘Quintessential Grilled Cheese Sandwich’ and the price of this sandwich is something that’s making the internet go crazy. Apparently, the restaurant has priced the sandwich for $214 or 17,500 Rs. This offer was made by the restaurant on the occasion of ‘National Grilled Cheese Day’. They announced this relaunch on their Instagram handle and captioned the post as, “We are bringing back yet another Guinness World Record-winning dish for a limited time only. This National Grilled Cheese Day (April 12th), S3 in New York will be offering “The Quintessential Grilled Cheese Sandwich,” which achieved the Guinness World Record for the most expensive sandwich in the world, priced at $214.”

What makes this sandwich super- special is the fact that it is made of ‘Caciocavallo Podolico Cheese’ which is made from the milk of some special cows that lactate only during May and June, and they graze on aromatic grass. Also, the fact that these sandwiches are toasted in 23 carat gold, makes this sandwich extra special.

Also, the sandwich is served on a high-quality Baccarat crystal plate with a Baccarat glass filled with South African Lobster Tomato Bisque as a dipping sauce, which is swirled with crème fraîche and truffle oil.
