WHA76 side event: Trans Fat Free 2023

Date: Thursday, 25 May 2023
Time:
4:30 to 6:30 pm (CEST)

Elimination of industrially produced trans fat from the global food supply by 2023 is a priority target for the World Health Organization (WHO). In May 2018, WHO released the REPLACE action framework to serve as a roadmap for countries to implement the prompt, complete and sustained elimination of industrially produced trans fat from the food supply. Five years into the REPLACE initiative, the deadline for worldwide trans fat elimination is upon us.

Trans Fat Free by 2023 – Global Progress toward the Target, a side event at the World Health Assembly convened by WHO and Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) in partnership with the Access to Nutrition Initiative (ATNI), will call attention to the 2023 deadline and mobilize support from senior government stakeholders and food and beverage industry to accelerate progress on trans fat elimination.
